How To Revive a Wet Cell Phone

The cell phone is man’s favorite companion at present time. Certainly we take them anywhere and everywhere we go, a part of our daily routine. So it is highly possible that a cell phone can be involved in little accidents which can damage them in a few ways, or even worse, irreparably. Although a lot of electronic devices may feature certain aspects to protect them should accidents happen, there are definitely consequences that are unfavorable for the device. A cell phone getting wet can cause it to conk out because electricity when mixed with water is a definite no-no. They just don’t mix. If it happens to you though, there is no need to stress yourself out immediately. Although admittedly some units are no longer recoverable, it is very possible to revive a wet cell phone. By following a few simple steps, you may be able to save yourself the trouble of having to purchase a new unit and get the old one working again.
Remove your phone’s battery. If your phone was off when it accidentally got wet, you have a better chance at saving it. The very first step you must take the battery off as soon as possible. In case your phone was in contact with any type of corrosive substance, make sure and give it a thorough rinsing.
Disassemble your phone. Open up your phone. Take off the SIM card, the mat of the keypad and its casing, along with its battery. Look for an area that is low in humidity and allow your phone to dry up under a lamp or an air vent. Set your battery under the light to dry out too. If your phone is the flip type, position it in such a way that the keys are facing downwards. Wipe up your SIM card so it is completely dry.
Turn your phone on. After you have left the parts of your phone to dry for a few days if needed, you will need to re-assemble it again. Check for wet spots, if any remain, using cotton buds to reach the smallest spaces. The next step would be to begin to put the phone back together. You may re-attach your phone’s battery, begin to charge it by plugging the unit into an electrical outlet and turning your phone’s power back on. If there are any more problems, a battery replacement may be needed.
Alternative option. Another method you could look into when reviving your phone is to disassemble it, and begin the process of cleaning up the little parts with rubbing alcohol. This will help in eliminating any form of debris attached to your phone. Alcohol works very well with removal of water or other contaminants. Make sure that when you pull your phone apart, you have some knowledge of how to work on electronics. This requires removal of screw and other tiny details and you need to know how to put them together again.
No matter how careful you are, things do happen although we try to avoid them from doing so. It’s good to know that in cases such as these, you can still have hopes of getting your device to work again and save money as well.
